The IYT Yachtmaster Ocean

Beginning July 1, 2006:the IYT Yachtmaster Ocean, will be known as
“Master of
Yachts 200 Tons” (Ocean)
The Master of Yachts courses will continue to
require STCW Basic Training.
Duration : 44 hours class
Shore based course:

The IYT Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate is a qualification that indicates that the
holder has sufficient knowledge of celestial navigation, based on air navigation
tables, to globally navigate, using a sextant.
Minimum requirements: STCW'95, Yachtmaster Offshore, 5000 nautical miles.

What is a Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate?
The Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate is a qualification that indicates that the
holder has sufficient knowledge of celestial navigation, based on air navigation
tables, to globally navigate using a sextant.
This course is forty hours of classwork and assessments followed by the
submission of sights and proof of a 600 mile line offshore passage.
The candidate’s submission will then be assessed by a Yachtmaster Ocean
Examiner.
Candidates who have demonstrated the required level of understanding and
expertise in the course syllabus will be awarded the Yachtmaster Ocean
Certificate.
The holding of the Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate is restricted to current
holders of a valid Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate.
How do I apply for enrollment?
In order to apply for selection in the Yachtmaster’s Certification courses, a
detailed yachting resume must be sent to our St.Maarten office for evaluation.
Class starting dates are available by contacting this office.
Each Yachtmaster class numbers are limited so early application is advised.
Candidates are required to submit a 50% deposit with their application.
Your place in the class will be reserved upon receipt of funds on a first-come,
first-serve basis. Course materials will be mailed to you upon request.
